Re: Text to Speech

I have just trained our principal on Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 and in =
one day he was up and running. It is phenomenally accurate. My son, =
while in Middle School, used an earlier version to some effect, but this =
new version is quite an improvement. I am astounded by how easy it was =
for my principal (a technology dinosaur) to get it up and running.

I am using Dragon for transcribing interviews I collect in my =
ethnographic research methods. I have also used the Microsoft =
accessibility features to transcribe my speech to text as part of a =
research paper I was working on. I actually created my first draft of a =
paper on using this type of technology for converting speech to text. =
With training, I was able to get to about 95% accuracy on these MS Word =
transcriptions. However, training of the system and a good mic with a =
quiet space to work is very important.

Hello all-

=20

My school currently uses Kurzweil for our text to speech solution. I
was wondering what everyone else uses, and are you happy with it? If
you could send me a message with a couple of pros and cons of your
current solution, it would be very helpful. We are using Kurzweil 10 so
if your solution is the new version of Kurzweil I would like to hear
about that too.

Thanks!
